Pill Identifier

If you take multiple medications, it can be difficult to keep track of them. Ever drop some pills, find them later, and are unable to identify them?

There is a link at WebMD that may help identify pills by their imprints, size, and color. Click here to use the WebMD pill identification form.

Transportation Needs

I’ve been reading about a transportation service available in Orlando, serving seniors over 65 or any adult with visual impairment. The rates are affordable and rides are available 24 hours a day!

Click the link here for more info about the service, called ITN —–>

Basically, you sign up for the service, pay a yearly membership fee, and fund your account for the number of rides you think you will want. Average rates are $9 per ride, according to the organization’s website. The service offers help out of your home, and into a private car, and then into the place where you want to go (unlike taxi service which may not offer extra help with walkers, wheelchairs, or getting into and out of shops, doctor’s offices, etc.).

Please call me if you need help applying for the service. I can help you out over the phone or via email for free. Use the Contact page on this website to phone or to send me a message.

Take care,

Weather and Shopping

Cold, cool, hot, warm, back to cold, hot again…..Orlando weather is crazy! But, it sure beats shoveling snow!

“Weather” sunny and warm, or rainy and cold, let me take care of your shopping for you. I make regular shopping trips, several times a week, to Publix and Walgreens. I can take your list over the phone, buy the goods myself, and be reimbursed when I deliver them to your door. Or, you can give me your list first in person, however you prefer to handle things.

After delivering your shopping, how about a cleaning? I do that too and bring my own supplies and equipment! Give me a call or send me a message here to find out about my services and rates.

By the way, I can set all your clocks back while I’m there 🙂

Take care,

Senior Centers

Here are some links to some senior centers in Central Florida.  Some provide meals, but all provide a chance to interact with other seniors in your community.

Groveland Senior Center – 142 Mills St, Groveland, FL

Mayor William Beardall Senior Center  – 800 South Delaney Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801

Please comment with any others that you know about or let me know about your experiences at any area senior center.

Elder Care and Housing Services

Seems like business are more eager to market to senior citizens, but it’s getting difficult to find affordable services. Assisted Living or CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Communities) can start at $2000/month, and while some housekeeping and some meals are usually included, other home help is an extra charge on top of that.

I have noticed today that the Orlando Housing Authority is no longer accepting Section 8 housing assistance applications, due to a huge waiting list. No wonder nursing home facilities stay at capacity.

If you want to stay in your own home, but need some help with ADL (Activities of Daily Living), I can provide affordable help to you. I can work with almost any budget, and I don’t have a three or four hour minimum that most elder care services mandate.

Call or contact me today to see how I may assist you!
